2008

During this year ministry continued with programs, teaching, gifts and humanitarian aid. We worked very hard on the issue of the heating system and we are glad to announce that when The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and ING heard of this project, the responded with the full funds needed and a new heating system will be installed in Komarivka! Also Niko - Mitshubishi Co. completed a new dormitory for the older girls and is beginning a new dormitory for the older boys. Several teams from American and Australia came and helped with needed projects that have encouraged the children in various ways with different needs and projects.

Latest project: A new clinic is being built at the orphanage.
The clinic at the orphanage is a very small dilapidated shack style building with broken windows, no running water, no sewer drainage, no bathrooms or showers, inadequate heat and a sinking foundation. The floors inside are uneven and slope severely and there is not enough room to treat the children, much less, isolate them from deadly infectious sicknesses like influenza, chicken pox or tuberculosis.

See    http://www.orphanclinic.com/   for an idea about that project.

Artistic-social project "Blank Sheet"
Presentation of works by students from the Komarivka orphanage.
The theme "Draw Your God" was key to the implementation of the artistic project "Blank Sheet". For over a year and a half, artists Petro Bevza and Oleksandr Zhyvotkov, with the assistance of Mykola and Volodymyr Zhuravel worked with children at the orphanage. The artists asked the children to draw images of the ideals that have lived in human consciousness over the ages. Each of the children ages 9-15, without any previous training, drew their "own God" based on models that icon painters have used since the XII century.
