October 2005 - New Toilets Installed and Home Economics Class Supplies
Given
On October 3, 2005, Doug Stoddard, the Manna
Family, Ira, and some American guests traveled up to see the work being
done at the orphanage. Over the summer months, Sergei, our hired plumber
and contractor, did a huge amount of septic work and toilet installation.
We were also able to bring kitchen supplies for a new home economics
class. The staff would like to teach the kids how to cook so that they
would be better prepared for the world when the graduate after 9th grade.
Thanks to the generosity of the Prairie Home Church VBS this past summer,
we were able to deliver those supplies. We still need to purchase them a
stove and hire the electric work to be completed. Katya Poleleeva, an
8-year old that lived in this orphanage last year, also accompanied us to
visit her brother who still lives in the orphanage. The Manna family are
now foster parents for Katya.

It may not look like a toilet, but it is best for
maintenance at the orphanage. |
Brand new sinks! These are important since there are no
showers or bathtubs. |

The workers are still working to finish the girls' toilets.

Katya, now living with the Mannas, meets classmates from
last year. Can you see the difference in their eyes?

Katya shows a book to her brother. Some kids look on with
"jealous" looks on their eyes. Each of these children need families. |
