Our vision
There are some statistics about orphans who graduate:
10% commite suicide
40% go to prison
40% have mental problems
only 10% more or less can adopt to life
We don't want just to give children some candy and toys for Christmas. With God's help we want to make a real difference
in their lives. We want to show them that they aren't alone at this awful world (as most of them feel), that God cares
and many people care for them, too. We want to help them to find the right way in their life, to discover their talents,
to get a good profession and create strong families. We want to give them a FUTURE that will be different from the
statistics above.
So according to our vision the orphans need:
a lawyer. Most of children don't have valid documents that they are orphans. If they had them they
would be adoptable and have a chance to find a good family. Even if they wouldn't be adopted they would get help
from goverment as orphans, study at colleges free and get other privileges. So it's very important! There aren't
any lawyers at the orphanage or nearby who can help them. Teachers can't do it
themselves.
a good counselor. All children have pass through very hard times, alcoholic parents, physical and
sexual violence, poverty, stealing, asking for money, homeless and sleep in the street and so on. They suffer from
lonelyness and lack of love, they don't trust people, they are afraid of life and have a lot of psychological
problems. We understand that it's huge job to help them and we can't find a counselor for full-time job at this small
village but probably we can provide some trainings and a counseling for the most needed kids.
medical care. Many children need it.
repairing for buildings. First of all - a heating system.
photoalbum's program. Usually children don't have any pictures from their childhood. We'd like to
start a photoalbum's program: a small photoalbum for each child and a possibility to take at least 2-3 pictures a year
(or more) so that they have memories like a regular child would have.
"widening" of their world and encouraging.
Everything what children have seen during their lives - it's a small village, alcoholic and unemployed surrounding,
poverty and hopelessness. We asked a graduate girl what did children feel before leaving the orphanage and what do they
dream about. She said they all feel fear and despair, they are afraid of life and don't know how to live. Because of it
they don't want to study, to grow and to develop their lives. We'd like to show them "big" world and another possibilities, to make the kids more interested in studying, to help them to discover their talents, try and choose a future profession.
They need:
excursions
good encouraging books, audio and video
a few computers, an Internet, software (especially educational programms) and so on
a possibility to study music, art, sport and take part at competitions and concurses (at least for the most
talented children)
a sewing machine and a stuff for sewing
tools and stuff for another handwork
we accept your ideas!
graduate program.
Graduates are our biggest problem and pain. Children live more or less normal in the orphanage. But when they graduate...
Normally children graduate at 15, sometimes 16 years old. They are too young for independent life, don't have any experience
and usually can't get any help. They feel discouraged and hopeless and very often they make terrible mistakes. Boys steal or robe,
girls are ready to live with any man who propouse it (often it's not very good man). Sometimes small help can protect them from bad
choice and save their lives. We would like to "keep an eye" on graduates at least during next 3 years after graduation and help them
if necessary. It would be great to find a good family or a church for each child who can lead a child individually. Also we'd like
to make graduating photoalbums and presents for graduates (necessary stuff).
material needs.
donations. We appreciate any help
clothes, shoes. Especially shoes are the biggest problem. We saw girls that wore slippers in winter (it was snow!) because they didn't have shoes and a boy who wore girl's shoes with flowers
socks, gloves, linen
curtains, blankets, carpets and so on. Sometimes teachers collect their own money to buy it
furniture. They haven't got any new furniture during 18 years
sports inventory
books, toys
Probably our plans are too big, but a 1000 miles way starts from a first step. Let's start from small things and then God will show us what we can do.
